Drawing Foundations
This class is designed to initiate students into the time-tested processes and methods as passed down by the old masters. All principles of drawing in various media are taught in relation to materials and historic procedures. Students complete renderings that range from life drawings to architecture, landscape and still life. Work in this course includes using traditional methods to size and prepare paper and panels, the history and understanding of pigments, an introduction to grinding colors in oil, preparation and use of mediums, ink making, and using white lead or gesso as a ground. These foundation classes are required for further studies.
