Ben Long

Born in Berlin, Germany, I received a formal education as a stonecarver. In 1976 I emigrated to the United States where I later established my company Studio Berlin of Cleveland.

I have worked continually in stone carving and restoration for the last 30 years. Morganton, North Carolina, in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, is my new home. The majority of my work has been restoration of statuary and architectural elements, as well as the maintenance of same.

I have also designed and created new altars, baptistries and other sanctuary furniture. A variety of garden and landscape art has been created over the years. I have educated myself to be a sculptor and ran my own gallery in the 1990s. I also dedicate time to teaching students of all ages and worked with interns from several universities, as well as special education students. I was part of a two-year national program identifying gifted children in the arts.
